I will show you:
Grenoble, also known as the Capital of the Alps and the Dauphiné region is truly dynamic in that it offers a modern, historical and natural experience for its tourists.
The Old Town includes lively squares, connected by picturesque lanes with old houses, private mansions, museums canvassing magnificent collections, religious heritage including the Notre-Dame Cathedral dating from 13th century, and relaxing parks and gardens such as Parc Paul Mistral, a vast green space in the heart of the city (33 hectares) which bears witness to the military, political, urban, industrial, artistic and sporting history of Grenoble.
The military past of Grenoble remains alive. The most notable example is the fort of the Bastille which dominates the city, 250 meters above, providing an accessible canopy for an absolute view of the city and the surrounding mountains, from the immediate pre-Alps region and as far as the Mont Blanc on a clear day, the highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe.
With such a dramatic environment, it is no wonder that it has developed an industry at the forefront of global innovation and a popular destination for international students and professionals. The city further provides a gateway for natural tours in the surrounding mountains offering routes for all levels. The true magic is the culmination of all these spheres; Art, History, Military, Religious, Modern and Natural!
Running has become for me the ultimate way to experience the environment, be it urban, historical or natural and the opportunity to share this with others truly amplifies the enjoyment. My perspective of the city develops through the perspectives of others and I am often surprised by new wonders from the novel point of view of a "tourist".
